   a Rifle for Himself

We are always searching for new and exciting products and techniques to improve our already state of the art custom rifles. Many products do not have what it takes to make it through the front door of Brown Precision.

However, the products that do pass our stringent testing are offered to you as options on your new Brown Precision rifle, or an existing one. You can feel confident with these products because we feel confident with these products.

3 Position Safety

Barrel Band Front Sling Swivel

Classic styling and functional reliability machined and permanently installed to fit your barrel contour exactly.  Allows your rifle to be carried lower on the shoulder and keeps your hand away from stock-mounted front swivels on large bore rifles.  Standard equipment on all Pro-Hunter series rifles.

Cyrogenic Barrel Treatment

Brown Precision now offers Cryogenic barrel treatment.  The Cryogenic Process is a method of stress relieving steel by subjecting it to extreme temperatures.  When performed on rifle barrels, the steel molecules are re-aligned to help reduce the stresses imparted to a barrel during machining.  In addition, the bore of a cryogenic treated barrel is smoother and harder - making it less prone to copper fouling and easier to clean.  The life of the cryogenic treated barrel will be increased by as much as 25%.

To accurately perform the Cryogenic Process, we use computer-controlled equipment to slowly bring the temperature of barrel down to -300° F.  This temperature is held for 10 hours, then slowly brought back up to +300° F.  We hold this temperature for 12 hours before slowly bringing the barrel back to room temperature.  The entire process takes about 60 hours.

Custom Trigger Guards

Custom One Piece Trigger Guard (standard on some Custom High Country, option on others)

Speedlock Firing Pin Spring

Replacing the factory 20 to 22 pound firing pin spring with a beefier 28 to 30 pound spring has a number of advantages. First, the increased lock time aids in accuracy. The harder hit on the primer insures more consistent ignition. This helps accuracy, but more importantly gives better ignition in cold weather. The heavier spring also helps reduce the risk of a “frozen” firing pin when the weather really gets nasty. The Speedlock Firing Pin Spring is standard equipment on the Pro-Hunter and Pro-Hunter Elite rifles, but is highly recommended on any rifle that will be used in harsh weather conditions.
